IDF Drone Falls in Syria

Written by Yona Schnitzer/TPS on June 19, 2018

The IDF confirmed Tuesday that an ‘Sky Rider’ drone crashed over Syrian airspace in the Quneitra region, near the town of Hader, several kilometers from the Israeli border.

The military stressed in a statement that there was no danger of intelligence information from the aircraft leaking to the Syrians, but did not say what caused the crash.

Earlier Tuesday, the Lebanon-based Hezbollah militia, which has also been active in Syria in recent year, said that it will not hesitate to resume hostilities with “the idiot Trump and the brain-damaged Netanyahu” in response to an attack on Sunday near the Iraqi-Syrian border that killed dozens of people in Syria, presumably including Hezbollah operatives.

“We will not hesitate to take on the ‘Zionist entity’ (Israel) and the Americans,” a Hezbollah spokesman said, adding that “we know exactly who was killed in the attack and what factions they belonged to. We will have a fitting response once we discover the identity of the criminal attackers.”

At first, Syrian media had attributed the attack to the United States, but on Monday, CNN quoted an unnamed senior American official saying that Israel carried out the strike.

Hezbollah said they were not surprised by the American and Israeli raids, as the Shiite militia has declared it’s intention of ousting remaining ISIS forces from the Iraq border area. Hezbollah and Iran have repeatedly claimed that ISIS is an American-Israeli backed scheme to sow instability in the Muslim world.
