NEW YORK (VINnews) — Several actors have come out against Israel, and are now experiencing cutbacks in their personal careers due to their stand. Susan Sarandon accused Israel of war crimes, claimed that the massacre occurred “in a certain context” and said that Jews are “finally getting a taste of how it feels to be Muslim in America”.

In the wake of her controversial statements, Sarandon has now been dropped by Hollywood agency UTA.

Melissa Barrera, who stars in the revival o horror franchise Scream, has been fired from the upcoming Scream 7, due to the Spyglass Media Group interpreting her pro-Palestine social media posts as “antisemitic”.

Last month, Barrera posted on her Instagram Story: “I too come from a colonized country” alongside a Mexican flag emoji – as well as “Palestine WILL be free”, followed by a Palestinian flag. She concluded the Story with the quote: “They tried to bury us, they didn’t know we were seeds.”

At the same time other actors, mainly Jewish ones, have made a strong stand in favor of Israel.

In a clip released by actress Ginnifer Goodwin ( a Jewish actress from Memphis), who is famous for her voice dubbings in animated movies, she decides to be the voice of Raz Asher, a 4-year-old girl who is being held captive in Gaza. Goodwin has championed the case of Asher, her mother Doron and her 2-year-old sister Aviv on her social media pages, presenting their pictures and demanding their immediate return.
