Photos Of Migrant Detention Highlight Biden’s Border Secrecy

0

President Joe Biden’s administration has tried for weeks to keep the public from seeing images like those released Monday of immigrant children in U.S. custody at the border sleeping on mats under foil blankets, separated in groups by plastic partitions.

Administration officials have steadfastly refused to call the detention of more than 15,000 children in U.S. custody, or the conditions they’re living under, a crisis. But they have stymied most efforts by outsiders to decide for themselves.

Officials barred nonprofit lawyers who conduct oversight from entering a Border Patrol tent where thousands of children and teenagers are detained. And federal agencies have refused or ignored dozens of requests from the media for access to detention sites.

Such access was granted several times by the administration of President Donald Trump, whose restrictive immigration approach Biden vowed to reverse.

The new president faces growing criticism for the apparent secrecy at the border, including from fellow Democrats.

Biden’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, said Monday “the administration has a commitment to transparency to make sure that the news media gets the chance to report on every aspect of what’s happening at the border.”

White House press secretary Jen Psaki added that the White House was working with homeland security officials and the Health and Human Services Department to “finalize details” and that she hoped to have an update in the “coming days.”

Axios on Monday first published a series of photos taken inside the largest Border Patrol detention center, a sprawling tent facility in the South Texas city of Donna. The photos were released by Rep. Henry Cuellar, a Texas Democrat from the border city of Laredo.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection, which includes the Border Patrol, released its own set of photos and videos on Tuesday from the facilities in Donna and El Paso, Texas. The photos from Donna show some of the same detention areas as in the images released by Cuellar.

The agency says it’s “working to balance the need for public transparency and accountability” while still refusing access to most outside visitors.

Cuellar said he released the photos in part because the administration has refused media access to the Donna tent. He said he also wanted to draw attention to the extreme challenges that border agents face in watching so many children, sometimes for a week or longer despite the Border Patrol’s three-day limit on detaining minors.

“We ought to take care of those kids like they’re our own kids,” Cuellar said.

Thomas Saenz, president of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, said the U.S. should allow media access to border facilities while respecting the privacy of immigrants detained inside. He noted the risk of sharing without permission images of children who have already faced trauma.

“We ought to be aware of these conditions,” Saenz said. “People have to see them so that they can assess the inhumanity and hopefully embark on more humane policies.”

The White House has prided itself on its methodical rollout of policy during its first 50-plus days but West Wing aides privately acknowledge they were caught off guard by the surge of migrants at the border and the resulting media furor.

The GOP has grabbed on to the border situation with both hands, reviving the issue that was key to propelling Trump to the top of the Republican field in 2016.

Biden has kept in place a Trump-era public health order and expelled thousands of immigrant adults and families, but he declined to expel immigrant children without a parent after a federal appeals court in January cleared the way for him to do so. He also moved to speed up the reunification of hundreds of separated immigrant families.

“What Trump did was horrible,” Cuellar claimed. “These pictures show you that even under our best intentions, and the Biden administration has the best intentions, it’s still very difficult.”

Cuellar said the White House needs to work more with Mexico and Central America to prevent people from leaving their home countries. The White House said Monday that key officials would go this week to Mexico and Guatemala.

Sen. Chris Murphy, a Connecticut Democrat who visited a facility in El Paso, Texas, last week, told NPR, “We want to make sure that the press has access to hold the administration accountable.”

The Associated Press has requested access to border facilities for more than a month. Reporters first asked Health and Human Services on Feb. 4 to allow entry into a surge facility re-opened at Carrizo Springs, Texas, holding hundreds of teenagers. And they have asked Homeland Security officials for access at least seven times to Border Patrol facilities, with no response.

The AP has also petitioned Psaki to open border facilities.

Border agencies under Trump allowed limited media tours of both Homeland Security and Health and Human Services facilities. Several of those visits revealed troubling conditions inside, including the detention of large numbers of children as young as 5 separated from their parents.

Under Biden, the agencies also have denied full access to nonprofit lawyers who conduct oversight of facilities where children are detained. Those oversight visits occur under a federal court settlement.

When lawyers this month visited the Border Patrol facility at Donna, where thousands of children are now detained, agents refused to let them inside and the Justice Department said they were not entitled to gain access. The lawyers were forced to interview children outside. The Justice Department declined to comment.

The newly published photos released by Cuellar’s office show groups of children crowded together inside the partitions. Some appear to be watching television while others are lying on floor mats, some side by side. Children are shown wearing surgical masks but are close to each other.

The Donna facility consists of large interconnected tents. Overhead photos taken by AP show enclosed outdoor areas where children can go. But lawyers who have interviewed children detained at Donna say some can go days without being allowed outside.

The administration is rushing to open more space to get roughly 5,000 children out of Border Patrol detention and into Health and Human Services facilities that are better suited for youth. It has also tried to expedite the releases of children in HHS custody to parents and other sponsors in the U.S.

But border agents continue to apprehend far more children daily than HHS is releasing, even though more than 40% of youths in the system have a parent or legal guardian who could take them.

Meanwhile, the administration is seeing its emergency facilities for immigrant children approach capacity almost as quickly as it can open them. The downtown Dallas convention center has 1,500 teenagers less than a week after opening and is expected to take in 500 more teens Monday, according to HHS. Its current capacity is 2,300 people.

Pesach Disaster: Hundreds of Homes “Double-Booked” In Orlando, Many Left Without Place For Yom Tov

0

It’s been brewing for weeks already, but it seems the disaster in Orlando is growing by the minute.

Hundreds of Jewish families have been renting homes in Orlando for this Pesach, all looking forward to a relaxing and an enjoyable Yom Tov. But for many, it turned out to be a nightmare.

According to multiple sources, more than 200 homes were “double booked”, many without the original renters knowing about it until the last minute.

It seems there were a few ways that people lost their rentals.

It began months ago, as thousands began placing deposits on homes for Pesach. Some homes were being rented for $6,000, and when brokers saw that there was a massive demand for homes, they began renting them to others – some for as much as $25,000.

The problem is, some brokers never even told the original renters anything. Some brokers simply lied and said that their credit cards had been declined. This was a blatant lie, and in fact many had been charged, but the brokers had simply “refunded” the money, and taken their next customer who was paying three times the price.

Other renters were told the home couldn’t be rented “due to COVID”, “burst pipe”, “roof leaks”, “air conditioning issues”, and other creative lies.

One victim told YWN they booked their home a few days after Chanukah, and found out 5 days ago that they had lost their rental. YWN is aware of two families that were cancelled on Tuesday morning, and another on Monday night.

The second – and even more disturbing scam – was that people began placing “down-payments” on many homes, showing intent to purchase them, with the condition that they can use it for Pesach. These people have no intent on buying these home, and many are cancelling their “contracts” after Pesach. Their down-payments are less then the amount they would of had to pay to rent a home for Pesach.

In fact, YWN has been told that some “brokers” themselves went into contract on many homes to they could rent the homes for a profit. It appears that these “down payments” were done by brokers themselves.

The results of these scams? Hundreds of families finding out a week before Pesach that they have no where to go. One family had already shipped their food on Monday and were flying on Tuesday evening only to find out on Tuesday morning that their home had been cancelled.

YWN is told that lawyers are being hired and the authorities are already looking into this.

If you have been a victim of a double-booking this Pesach in Orlando or any other location in Florida, please click here to contact YWN.

REAL STORY SENT TO YWN: “I had 1575 Plunker , booked for 3/24 to 4/5 fully paid and confirmed. They then sent me that the hosts wants to come. We will see who comes since my daughter has the house next door.

I also had another house 1686 Moon Valley management vacasa and we received 2 weeks ago that it was sold. Why is the contract not enforceful for the new owners!”

REAL STORY SENT TO YWN: “Happened to us too. We booked on vrbo for $2200 (chol hamoed and second days) and our house (and a couple of others in the neighborhood) went into contract suddenly to sell right before yom tov (March 22). You write that the value is $6000, it is much less. The price for a full yom tov brand new house is between 2k (5 bedroom)- 4K (8,9 bedroom). I’m not referring to the reunion mansions just the brand new developed houses which is what 90% of the renters take. They are re-renting these cheap houses for over 15-20k or more. Our address was 5431 Solterra Circle.”

REAL STORY SENT TO YWN: “I made reservations via VRBO for my family to join with my parents and siblings and their families in Solterra. We found a house between my parents and sisters houses and paid the 50% deposit. On March 7th I got an E-mail from the owner asking if I was still interested in renting the house, I relied yes, and 1 hour later received a cancellation notice. When I asked why the house was canceled, I received no reply initially, and then was told ‘due to covid-19’. I reached out directly to VRBO and they said that there was ‘nothing they can do’, but if they see this as something this owner does repeatedly they will strip his listings off the website. They put me in touch with the homeowners association, but unfortunately the only home they could find, privately of course, was over $5000 more than what was originally contracted at, and of course VRBO, Air BNB, et al have no listings for Pesach dates. I was also told that the owner of my house owns 44 other homes in Solterra and has a history of doing this.

The owner’s name is Lu Jinxiu
VRBO ID 7565083ha

My family who are in Orlando will see who has ruined our Yom Tov….”

REAL STORY SENT TO YWN: “I was double booked. First house we booked via AIRBNB around Chanukah and after 2 weeks the host said sorry, the house isn’t available and gave it to someone’s else. The second house was through VRBO. The house never existed and were given a fake address! The host never responded and we thankfully got our money back via CC dispute. Our 3rd house we booked and about a month later someone else booked the same house via another listing on the same platform! We are hoping when we get there no one else will be in the house. This is just crazy!!!”

REAL STORY SENT TO YWN: “I booked my home on Airbnb (312 Southfield. Encore), and I found out that someone else has the same booking! They canceled them (they booked back in august), and next they they canceled me. And two days ago I saw the same exact listing on Airbnb for double the price!”

REAL STORY SENT TO YWN: “Hi, I would like to be apart of whatever repercussions or actions against what happened in Orlando over Pesach. I have been a victim as well. I booked my Home in Orlando’s Champions Gate (1481 Rolling way) in October 22nd 2020 through VRBO and received an email this Sunday night at 10:30pm that my reservation has been canceled. I quickly messaged the owner and they said they cannot accommodate us due to one of their part guest we’re impacted by COVID-19 and any more than that they did not share or discuss all they mentioned was they “gave us enough notice to find another home) . I contact vrbo and they said their “book with confidence” policy cannot cover this. My parents were already on their way driving to Orlando and my food was packed on the truck headed towards Orlando. Almost $10k+ in damages”

REAL STORY SENT TO YWN: “We booked 6132 Broad Oak Drive in Solterra on Jan 6 through vrbo. End of February it got canceled, saying that that owner “didn’t want to rent it”. A few days later KosherVillasOrlando.com rented it to someone else.”

REAL STORY SENT TO YWN: “We rented in December a house and paid in full and then in February got an email that we are being fully refunded. The house was off all websites so it’s not like someone by mistake was able to book it. Airbnb claimed that the owner wants it themselves for that week. 7654 Fairfax Drive in Encore was our address. We are going to go down on Pesach to see who stole our house. But anyone who took it knew there were no homes available in Encore as of the end of January. It’s not like they could claim they didn’t know.”

REAL STORY SENT TO YWN: “We booked a house on November 23, 2020 in Solterra through airbnb and found out at the end of January that the host gave us a fake address and when we contacted them for the right address, she said she didn’t have our booking or reservation. Even though, she charged our credit card over 3k for the deposit. Airbnb refunded us but at this point, we had to book two smaller houses, for more money to fit. Now, we don’t even know for sure that when we show up in Windsor at Westside, that our houses won’t be double booked G-d forbid. Let’s get a class action together against these hosts. I’m happy to provide whatever info an attorney might need.”

REAL STORY SENT TO YWN: “Our Passover airbnb home was booked in January. We shipped out personal items and food this past Sunday night. Today (Tuesday), one day before our flight it, we were contacted by the host saying the AC unit is out and he cannot accommodate us.”

REAL STORY SENT TO YWN: “I booked January 1 to be cancelled in Feb 22. Thank gd Vrbo made up the difference.”

REAL STORY SENT TO YWN: “Hi if there is a lawyer working on hotels that canceled last minute cause of double booking if can let me know. We had a reservation at sea coast suite Miami and since Lasko took over the hotel after we booked they canceled my reservation so they can sell the room for five times as much.”

REAL STORY SENT TO YWN: “I Booked a 4 bedroom house in Orlando in Solara Resort and they called me up ti cancell becaise they clarines the house was already rented and the site where I Booked and got charged, is a site that is not updated. I had all my plans already made.”

Lawfare Project to Gov. Newsom: Ethnic studies curriculum violates civil rights laws

0

It is urging California Gov. Gavin Newsom to direct the state board of education to refrain from implementing the curriculum until the problematic portions are removed.

The Lawfare Project is urging California Gov. Gavin Newsom to prevent the implementation of its recently approved Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum over concerns that it could violate federal and state civil rights laws.

In a letter, it said that the current version of the curriculum “remains highly problematic with respect to education about the Jewish people, an ethnoreligious minority.”

Specifically, the letter notes that the curriculum “repeated emphasis on supposed Jewish experiences of ‘conditional whiteness’ and ‘racial privilege’ enables—and may encourage—school districts throughout California to implement the ESMC in a manner that violates state and federal civil rights law,” in particular, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

The Lawfare Project is urging Newsom to direct the state board of education to refrain from implementing the curriculum until the problematic portions are removed.

“The California State Board of Education and Governor Newsom received the Lawfare Project’s letters warning of the likelihood that the ethnic-studies model curriculum, if implemented, would violate federal and state civil rights laws,” Brooke Goldstein, executive director of the Lawfare Project told JNS.

“The board recklessly approved this curriculum anyway, and [we] will consider all legal options to keep the Jew-hatred it contains out of our children’s classrooms.”

Last week, the California State Board of Education approved the Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum. Its approval was the culmination of nearly two years of debate and concern by the Jewish community about anti-Semitism and anti-Israel bias in the curriculum.

While many Jewish groups cautiously welcomed the version passed last week by California, noting that concerning portions about Israel and anti-Semitism had been removed, other groups took issue with its overall adoption and its divisiveness at a time of increasing anti-Semitism nationwide.

The ethnic-studies curriculum approved by California is only optional at this time for school districts. Last year, Newsom vetoed AB331 that would have made ethnic studies mandatory for graduation for California high school students. However, new legislation is being considered to make the curriculum mandatory.

‘Life-saving’ nose spray that kills 99.9% of viruses begins production in Israel

0

Health Ministry-approved labeling says antiviral is effective within
2 minutes; can save many lives in countries without access to vaccines, says inventor.

A nasal spray that will be marketed as capable of killing 99.9 percent of virus particles has started rolling off production lines in an Israeli factory.

The spray could have prevented much of the world’s COVID-19 infection, its inventor, Dr. Gilly Regev, told The Times of Israel.

“We are hoping that our nasal spray will now save many lives of people in countries that are waiting for the vaccine,” said Regev, an Israeli-raised biochemist who co-founded the company SaNOtize and developed the spray in Canada. “This will be affordable and can be used for prevention, to protect from any respiratory viral infection.”

She said that it has been shown to be effective in the lab against a wide range of viruses, and said that new variants of the coronavirus won’t interfere with its effectiveness, emphasizing: “It contains a broad spectrum antiviral which kills all viruses and all variants.”

Regev called Enovid a “hand sanitizer equivalent for the nose,” and said that it creates a physical barrier in the nasal passages to stop viruses along with a “chemical barrier” of nitric oxide, which is known for its antimicrobial qualities. “The nitric oxide means this is a special spray that doesn’t just block viruses but actually kills them,” she said.

Israel will become the first country where the spray is sold. The Health Ministry has given interim approval for its sale as a medical device suitable for people age 12 and up — meaning it could be used by many who aren’t yet approved for coronavirus vaccines — with packaging stating: “Scientifically tested to kill 99.9% of viruses within 2 minutes.”

It has also been approved for sale in New Zealand, and approval is being sought in other countries, including the UK.

Regev said that the factory, in Ness Ziona near Tel Aviv, is working to produce a stock of 200,000 to 500,000 bottles by May. “After this we’re hoping to get to capacity of a million bottles a month,” the Hebrew University graduate said, adding: “I hope this product will bring pride and jobs to Israel.”

The claim on the packaging is based on testing in labs, during which a range of live viruses, including influenza and SARS-CoV-2, were subjected to the spray. She acknowledged that the experiments took place outside the human body, in test tubes, and do not provide definitive proof of how effective the spray will prove in nasal passages — though she said they are very encouraging.

Separate research, which isn’t referenced on the packaging, has suggested that the spray can lessen the impact of COVID-19 among those who are infected.

Last week, SaNOtize and Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Surrey, UK, announced results of clinical trials. They indicated that the spray could prevent the transmission of COVID-19, shorten its course, and reduce the severity of symptoms and damage in those already infected.

The study has been submitted to a leading medical journal for review and publication.

The spray was fully developed by the time the pandemic struck, as it was invented mainly to fight influenza. Its innovation is the dosing procedure for nitric oxide. “It normally comes in gas cylinders and normally gets delivered to hospitals, but we wanted a practical way to deliver it as a liquid antimicrobial and have spent the last 12 years developing this,” said Regev.

Ingredients of the spray mix together when it is administered to form nitric oxide, she said, noting: “All components are used widely in the food industry and have a very strong safety profile.” Each bottle contains a month’s supply for one person to spray twice a day for protection against viruses.

She said: “Theoretically we could have distributed it a year ago, but we needed to negotiate regulatory approval. That’s the biggest frustration, that we’ve been trying 24/7 for a year to bring it to the market, and it could have saved a lot of lives. I believe it would’ve prevented infections and therefore reduced deaths.”

Shaked says Yamina is not planning for defeat

0

Ayelet Shaked tells Arutz Sheva that her party has only victory plans.

MK Ayelet Shaked of Yamina is giving one last interview to Arutz Sheva before election day.

“We are amicable with the Likud,” she says, “But it should be understood that Netanyahu is throwing everything he has against Yamina. We need every religious Zionist of every kind to support us if we are to establish a genuinely thoughtful right-wing government.”

Shaked does not believe in ‘the day after’ scenarios in case her party shouldn’t do as well as they hope. “We do not talk about ‘the day after’. We are going to set up a right-wing government, with a right-wing candidate at its head.”

Shaked is equally determined when it comes to the Yesh Atid party and its leader. “We have said unequivocally that there will be no rotation with Lapid, nor will Lapid be our Prime Minister under any circumstances. The choice right now is Naftali Bennett, who can stay true to right-wing values and has the courage and determination to implement policies for the good of the nation.”

Shaked was pleased to hear about the dismissal of the indictment against the former head of the Bar Association, Efi Naveh. “I am happy, of course, that Efi Naveh’s indictment has been dropped. I kept saying that hacking into a person’s cell phone was a crime punishable by imprisonment and that the prosecution is in no way allowed to resort to such a thing. It is good that that case has been closed.”

She was asked how she would act regarding the Early Childhood Preservation Act if she were to head the Ministry of Justice again.

“Matan Kahana will lead Yamina’s response to that bill. We brought it to a vote o is taking care of the presumption of infancy. We are the ones who brought it to a vote to begin with, and we have kept it from being dismissed.”

At the end of the interview, she calls on voters to support Yamina: “Don’t try to figure out which vote will ‘count for the most’ – it just confuses things. We represent all religious Zionism and all secular Zionism.”

Biden regularly consults with Barack Obama on a ‘range of issues’, Psaki says

0

Press Secretary Jen Psaki said she expects the pair will continue to consult throughout Biden’s presidency.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on Monday said that President Biden maintains “regular” communication with Barack Obama on a number of issues.

Psaki was asked by a reporter whether Obama had visited the White House and how often the two speak, to which she responded that Obama and Biden have a relationship that is not defined as president and vice president – instead, they are “friends.”

“They consult and talk about a range of issues and I would expect that continues through the course of President Biden’s presidency,” Psaki said. “That can be done over the phone it turns out, and I think if President Obama had been here, you would all know.”

Psaki declined to give an exact number of times that the powerful pair had spoken, but said they “keep in regular touch” and their respective teams also were in regular touch “about a range of issues.”

Psaki added that given Obama’s work on the Affordable Care Act, which Biden has committed to strengthening and expanding, that is one issue they will talk about.

She pointed questions as to what else Obama would specifically be involved in to his team.

Biden has tapped a number of individuals who previously served in the Obama administration to join his team, including chief of staff Ron Klain, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Despite the longstanding friendship, Obama drew interest from the media after he waited until late in the campaign cycle to formally endorse Biden

Meanwhile, Biden drew criticism throughout the campaign from Democratic contenders who accused him of running on Obama’s legacy.

During one 2019 debate, for example, Julián Castro, who served as Obama’s housing secretary, said Biden wanted to take credit for the Obama administration’s victories – but did not want to answer for any potential shortcomings.

“My problem with Vice President Biden … every time something good about Barack Obama comes up, he says, ‘Oh, I was there, I was there, I was there, that’s me, too,’” Castro said.

“And then every time somebody questions part of the administration that we were both part of, he says, ‘Well, that was the president.’ I mean, he wants to take credit for Obama’s work, but not have to answer to any questions.”

Biden responded at the time that he had stood with Obama over the eight years of his term.

Prime Minister leaves notes at the Kotel

0

Prime Minister Netanyahu made a trip to the Western Wall as part of his preparations for election day.

Prime Minister Netanyahu and his wife Sara made a trip to the Western Wall in advance of the elections. In addition to their prayers at the holy site, they each followed the tradition of leaving a ‘letter to God’ in the form of a note folded and inserted between the stones.

The Prime Minister’s note was a brief letter of thanks to G-d expressing thanks that his family has survived the various medical events in their recent past, including COVID-19, a prayer or victory at the polls, and a pledge to continue to fight or the people and state of Israel.

Sara Netanyahu wrote at somewhat greater length, praying for her husband’s victory, the health of the nation, and her family’s welfare. She made specific mention of her own recent surgery, asking for a speedy and full recovery.

The Netanyahu family are not the only politicians making a pilgrimage to the Western Wall before the polls open – New Hope chairman Gideon Sa’ar was also spotted standing in prayer by the Wall earlier today.

Dr. Mindy Boxer – Eating Well for Springtime

Traditional Chinese medicine says aligning your diet with the seasons is one of the best ways to stay healthy. Mother Nature provides exactly what we need to be healthy. Paying attention to the fruits, vegetables and herbs that grow during different seasons in the region where you live is a great way to incorporate the philosophies of traditional Chinese medicine into your own life and access greater healing.

In the spring, TCM suggests eating cooling foods to balance out the effect of warmer temperatures outside.

TCM also suggests taking the time to be mindful about the environment and energy around you when you eat. If you are stressed out or rushing when you eat, that will affect how your body is able to process the nutrients you’re consuming. Breathe deeply, chew well and take the time to digest your food.

For more spring in your step, here are four specific foods that can support your health and wellbeing this spring.

Lemon: In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the organ associated with Spring is the Liver and the flavor associated with the liver is Sour. Sour foods, like lemons, help flush toxins from the Liver. Adding fresh lemon to a cup of warm water each morning is a great, simple, practice that will do wonders for your Liver.

Greens: Fresh leafy greens are most plentiful during the spring, and eating them is associated with cleansing and building. The bright green color of leaves comes from Chlorophyll, which is a wonderful healing agent. Any greens, but especially those darker in color, like Spinach or wild greens such as Dandelion greens, are very beneficial.

Asparagus: Asparagus is a finicky plant with a short growing season: spring. Make a point to catch this plant powerhouse. Asparagus is full of vitamins A, C and K as well as Folate and Fiber. According to TCM, Asparagus builds the nourishing fluids in the body, meaning it soothes irritation and helps Fertility. It also promotes healthy lungs, clearing congestion and conditions like bronchitis.

Fruits and vegetables: In general, spring is the time of year when more fruits and vegetables become available locally. Peruse your local farmer’s market or take note of any produce in the grocery store that’s labeled Organic and  “local.” Incorporate these items into your diet in abundance!

Try incorporating these foods and cleansing principles with this delicious spring salad!

Phyllis Shallman – 6 Advantages of the Cash Envelopes System

0

The power of the cash envelope system is in its simplicity.

This is how it works. At the beginning of every month, you withdraw in cash all the money you plan on spending. Then, you divvy up your money into envelopes that represent different budget categories. For example, if you’ve budgeted $100 for eating at restaurants for the month, place $100 cash into an envelope labeled “restaurants.” That’s what you’ve got to dip into when you go out to eat. You don’t have to think about it. It’s that simple!

Not convinced? Here are 6 advantages of adopting the cash envelope system!

1. It’s a great way to save money. The ultimate goal of using cash envelopes is to save money. It can be an effective system because it brings your budget out into the open and makes it tangible. It can help reduce the likelihood that you’ll break your system and overspend.

2. The cash envelope system is flexible. Regardless of your age or financial situation, the cash envelope system can help you manage your spending. Barring categories for investing or emergency savings, it empowers you to accurately track and visualize your daily expenses.

3. You can easily see where you’re overspending. Every envelope that’s empty before the end of the month is a category where you’re potentially overspending. You now know exactly where you need to cut back.

4. It helps keep your budget organized. Nothing takes the wind out of your financial strategy quite like an overly complex budget. The cash envelope system takes the guesswork out of your budgeting and let’s you know exactly how much you can spend on what categories, and how much you have left over.

5. Cash envelopes help reduce the risk of impulse purchases. Why? Because they require that all transactions are planned ahead of time. That means fewer unbudgeted and out of the blue treats, toys, and trips!

6. It’s a great way to teach your kids about money management. That’s right, the envelope system is simple enough to teach to your kids. Consider setting up envelopes to help them budget their allowance. You can even make it a fun family project and help them decorate their envelopes! Start with simple categories like saving, spending, and giving, and add more categories as time goes on.

If you need a budget that’s simple and can help save you money, cash envelopes may be for you! Identify your top spending categories, buy a few envelopes and label them, and then start filling them with cash. Let me know what results you see!
