Shooting Attack Near Psagot, ‘Ended In a Miracle’ Says Victim

Written by Michael Zeff/TPS on December 03, 2015

At approximately 20:00 on Thursday, December 3, Rabbi Itay Halevi was leaving the town of Psagot, near Jerusalem  when he came under automatic fire by unknown assailants. While the Rabbi got out of the incident unharmed the suspected terrorists fled the scene prompting a manhunt by IDF soldiers in the region for suspects.

“I was leaving Psagot to go back home to Migron. Right outside Psagot there’s a sharp bend in the road, and immediately after the bend they opened fire on my car from the right side,” Rabbi Halevi told Tazpit Press Service.

“It was probably terrorists who were laying in ambush very close to the road, only a few meters away,” added Halevi.

IDF forces arriving on the scene immediately after the shooting discovered over 20 bullet cases on the very side of the road, corroborating the Rabbi’s statement that the shooters were extremely close.

Halevi fled to a nearby gas station waiting for the soldiers to arrive, and was discovered to be completely unharmed. More than ten bullet entry holes however were found on Rabbi Halevi’s car, while several exit holes were discovered on the driver’s side.

“More then ten bullets actually penetrated my car passing between me and the front windshield, meaning the bullets entered the car from the right window and some exited from the left side close to the driver’s seat, but I left without even a scratch,” Halevi recounted to TPS.

“It ended in a miracle, I sped out of the danger zone as fast as I could while calling the security services on my phone even before stopping.”

“I am thankful to god for this miracle and I am thankful to the IDF and Police for doing their job, ” concluded Rabbi Halevi.
