Jerusalem, 2 September, 2021 (TPS) — Israeli Paralympic swimmer Ami Dadon again brought immense pride to the country on Thursday when he won his third medal at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games, the country’s ninth in total, and the second for the day.

Dadon finished first in the 50-freestyle relay and won his second gold medal at the Paralympic Games while finishing in 37.21 seconds and setting a new Paralympic record.

Earlier in the day, swimmer Iyad Shalabi won his second gold medal when he came in first in the 50-meters backstroke swim in 1:11.79 minutes.

He made history last Wednesday when he became the first Israeli-Arab to win a gold medal at the Paralympics Games. He came in first in the 100-meter backstroke with a 2:28.04 minutes record.

On Monday, Dadon won a gold medal in the 200-meter freestyle and broke the world record he held with a new record of 2:44.84 minutes.

On Saturday, Dadon won a silver medal, Israel’s third medal at the Tokyo Paralympic Games in the 150-meter individual medley with a result of 2: 29.48 minutes.

On Monday, Israeli Paralympic swimmer Mark Malyar won his third medal at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.

He finished the 100 meters backstroke swim in third place with a personal and national record of 1:10.08, and was awarded a bronze medal.

Malyar also won two gold medals in Tokyo Games. On Friday, he won the gold medal in the 200m individual medley and broke the world record. On Sunday he finished first in the 400 meters free-style swimming race and broke the world record.

On Sunday, rower Moran Samuel won the country’s fourth medal, receiving a silver medal in the women’s 2,000-meter single sculls.

Israel’s collection of medals at the 2020 Games is significantly larger than the two bronze medals won at the 2016 Rio Games.

These four athletes are members of the 33 athletes’ team in 11 sports Israel sent to the Tokyo Games.

These last medals join the 375 Paralympic medals Israel has won, including 130 gold medals, placing it 16th on the list of medal-winning countries.

Abbas Says He’s Ready for Confidence-Building

Thursday, September 2, 2021

CAIRO (Reuters) – Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said on Thursday he was ready to take confidence-building measures and restore calm in the Palestinian territories despite ongoing disputes with Israel.

Abbas spoke as he met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah in Cairo, days after he held talks with Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz in a rare high-level meeting.

Egypt played a leading role in brokering the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas after 11 days of conflict in May in the Gaza Strip, and has since been trying to help reinforce the truce amid occasional renewed flare-ups of violence and to facilitate reconstruction in Gaza.

In Cairo, the three leaders pledged “to work together to refine a vision to activate efforts aimed at resuming negotiations, and work with brothers and partners to revive the peace process,” according to a statement released by Egypt’s presidency.

Peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians collapsed in 2014 and analysts say there is little prospect of reviving them, partly due to divisions between Abbas’ Palestinian Authority (PA) and Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip.

After Abbas met with Gantz, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett quickly played down the idea of any move towards peace negotiations, though Israel also agreed to lend the Palestinian Authority $150 million.

Bennett’s foreign minister, Yair Lapid, cast doubt on Wednesday on the prospects for a two-state solution, saying such a move could destabilize the Bennett’s cross-partisan coalition.

Ben & Jerry’s Israel to Competition Authority: Global Ben & Jerry’s Demand for Boycott Illegal

0
By Aryeh Savir/TPS • 2 September, 2021

Jerusalem, 2 September, 2021 (TPS) — Ben & Jerry’s Israel’s fight against the demand made by the global owner of the brand to boycott Judea and Samaria entered a new phase when it submitted an official complaint with Israel’s Competition Authority saying that the conduct of the global brand constitutes a serious violation of the terms of the merger between them and Unilever.

Unilever, which owns the global Ben & Jerry’s, stated in July that it was ending sales in Israel as “we believe it is inconsistent with our values for Ben & Jerry’s ice cream to be sold in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.”

“We have informed our licensee that we will not renew the license agreement when it expires at the end of next year,” the company said.

Avi Zinger, the Israeli license owner, refused Ben and Jerry’s demand to withdraw his sales from Judea and Samaria.

AQP, the Israeli company that has the franchise to distribute Ben & Jerry’s products in Israel, has, through Adv. Dr. Dori Klagsbald approached Acting Antitrust Commissioner Michal Cohen with a formal complaint alleging a blatant violation of the Competition Authority’s 2000 guidelines for a merger between Unilever, the controlling owner of Strauss Ice Cream, and Ben & Jerry’s Global.

Under the terms of the merger, it was determined that no action would be taken to reduce the scope of the sale of Ben & Jerry’s products in Israel, out of fear that the food giant might act to reduce competition in the market in favor of Strauss Ice Cream.

It was further stipulated in the terms of the merger that Unilever will have no right to determine for the Israeli Ben & Jerry’s franchisee the terms of marketing of its products in Israel.

About a month and a half ago, and in complete violation of the terms of the merger, the global company notified the Israeli franchisee of the end of its franchise period, after demanding that it stop distributing the company’s products in Judea and Samaria, a demand that the Israeli franchisee saw as illegal, immoral and as a surrender to the boycott organizations operating against Israel, which he was unwilling to accept.

The demand caused a great public uproar in Israel and around the world, with many Israelis expressing their support for the Israeli franchisee who fought independently against the international food giant.

The official complaint is another stage in AQP’s struggle to keep the franchise in its hands and is appealing to the Competition Authority to intervene and demand compliance with the merger guidelines, and to cancel Ben & Jerry’s global demand from the Israeli franchisee not to distribute and market the brand’s products in Judea and Samaria.

Avi Zinger stated that “as an Israeli franchisee, I am committed first and foremost to the State of Israel and its citizens, so I had no doubt that I would not accept the anti-Israel demand, which harms and discriminates against many citizens of the country.”

“Beyond the surrender and submission to the BDS organizations, this is a severe interference in competition in Israel and a blatant violation of the terms of the merger, and therefore we demand the intervention of the Competition Authority, which will work to protect the Israeli consumer,” he added.

Several US states have launched a probe against Unilever to determine if its boycott of Israel was a breach of their anti-boycott laws.

Over 30 US states have laws that prohibit it from contracting with companies that boycott Israel or are connected to the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

More Than 30 California Children Still Stuck In Afghanistan

0

More than 30 California children are stuck in Afghanistan after they traveled to the country to see their relatives weeks before the Taliban seized power and were unable to get out before U.S. forces left, according to school districts where the kids are enrolled.

Officials with three school districts — one in the San Diego area and two in Sacramento — said Wednesday that they have been in contact with the families who fear they have been forgotten by the U.S. government. The officials said that some of the children were born in the United States and are U.S. citizens.

Nearly all of the children returned to Afghanistan with one or both parents in the spring or early summer to visit relatives. The families traveled on their own to the country and were not part of any organized trips.

Many of the families arrived in the U.S. years ago after obtaining special immigrant visas granted to Afghans who had worked for the U.S. government or U.S. military over the past two decades.

Some of the families told school district officials that they had made attempts to get on planes at the airport in Kabul but were unable get through Taliban checkpoints or through the throngs of Afghans surrounding the airport over the past two weeks. The U.S. ended its evacuation efforts and withdrew its forces on Monday.

In Sacramento, the San Juan Union School District said it had identified 27 students from 19 families enrolled in the district who said they have been unable to get out of Afghanistan and return home.

“These numbers continue to change rapidly,” Raj Rai, a district spokeswoman said in an email to The Associated Press on Wednesday. “We believe that some of these families may be in transit out of Afghanistan, as we have not been able to reach many of them in the last few days.”

Rai said the district was working with elected officials to help the families leave the country.

“San Juan Unified stands with our Afghan community and all those whose loved ones are currently in Afghanistan,” she said. “We sincerely hope for their speedy and safe return back to the U.S. and back to our school communities.”

The nearby Sacramento City Unified School District said an Afghan immigrant family with three children enrolled at Ethel I. Baker Elementary had contacted the district to ask for help in getting out of the country.

“The only word I can say is heartbreaking,” said district spokeswoman Tara Gallegos.

In the Cajon Valley Union School District in a San Diego suburb with a large refugee population, eight families reached out to their children’s schools before classes started Aug. 17 to report that they were having trouble leaving Afghanistan.

Republican Rep. Darrell Issa of California worked with the district and U.S. government officials and seven of the families have since made it out of Afghanistan. Most are now back home in the city of El Cajon and some of the students returned to class on Monday.

But one family is still stuck in Afghanistan, said Cajon Valley Union School District spokesman Howard Shen.

District officials were in contact with family members, he said, and trying to help them get out.

Caldor fire blows past 200,000 acres as it moves toward Nevada; crews grow fatigued

ANITA CHABRIA,  RUBEN VIVES, HAYLEY SMITH

Wildfire crews faced yet another grueling day Wednesday as the massive Caldor fire blew past 200,000 acres and continued its steady march east toward Nevada.

The head of the fire is now approaching the California-Nevada state line, spurring concerns that it could involve both states. Firefighters made an all-out effort Tuesday to defend the Lake Tahoe Basin and were able to protect many of the homes in Christmas Valley and Meyers, while also herding the flames into areas south of the popular resort city of South Lake Tahoe.

“We’re fortunate the fire did not make as strong a push into Tahoe as it did the previous day,” Tim Ernst, operations section chief with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, said during a Wednesday morning briefing.

But by midday Wednesday, firefighters were facing strong winds and bone-dry conditions and battling airborne embers and fast-moving flare-ups. Red flag warnings remain in place over much of the fire area until 11 p.m., indicating the potential for wind gusts as strong as 30 mph.

Some experts said the question was not whether the fire would reach the state line but when.

“I’d be surprised if it doesn’t make it to Nevada in the next day or so,” said Craig Clements, a professor of meteorology and director of the Wildfire Interdisciplinary Research Center at San Jose State.

Clements’ team is using dynamic computer modeling to forecast the fire’s likely behavior. The model shows the fire reaching Nevada late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, he said.

“This is a difficult fire to forecast,” Clements said, noting that, as it burns in complex terrain with very dry vegetation, “fires burn whichever way the wind direction blows.”

Fire incident meteorologist Jim Dudley said earlier Wednesday the “wind regime” that officials saw Tuesday would continue throughout the day.

“Where it was gusty on the ridges, and you saw the swirling erratic wind conditions,” Dudley said, “you’re going to see that again today.”

Strong winds are a major concern for firefighters, as they can send embers aloft and ignite spot fires as far as a mile away, officials said.

Fire behavior analyst Steven Volmer said, given the hot, dry conditions in the area, the probability of an errant ember sparking a new fire was “extremely high” — above 90%. And when fires do start, they can spread at speeds of 200 feet per minute between the crowns of trees, and about 100 feet per minute on the ground, he said.

Beyond the wind, firefighters are also dealing with another challenge, officials said: fatigue. The fire has been burning for 18 days. As of Wednesday morning, it had seared through 204,390 acres and was 20% contained.

“Whether you have been here for the duration of this incident, you came from another fire or you’ve been covering at home, fatigue can and will set in,” one safety officer told firefighters, noting that “we all know we still have a long grind ahead of us.”

Sep. 1, 2021

The eastern flank of the fire is among the top concerns, officials said, and there was also talk that the fire could head south toward the community of Markleeville in the coming days.

Containment lines made with bulldozers near the Heavenly ski resort appear to be keeping the fire at bay, although flames remain active on the ridge above Kirkwood and in Wrights Lake north of U.S. 50.

The original part of the fire — near Grizzly Flats to the west — is still causing problems, although officials hope to lift some of the evacuation orders in that area within the next 48 hours.

Calling it the state’s “No. 1 priority,” Gov. Gavin Newsom said significant resources were being dedicated to the firefight, including fire retardant being dropped by aircraft, helicopters making water drops, and the National Guard deployed to battle the blaze.

Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak this week declared a state of emergency “in the anticipation of the fire crossing from California into the state of Nevada in the coming days,” his office said.

More than 4,200 personnel have been assigned to fight the fire, officials said.

Evacuation orders have been issued across a wide swath of the area, including South Lake Tahoe and into Nevada’s Douglas County.

Caldor fire information officer Jason Hunter said structure defense remained firefighters’ top priority in the evacuated areas. Nearly 35,000 structures are threatened by the fire.

“There’s a lot of resources in there doing a significant amount of structure protection and line construction with the bulldozers to the south, along Pioneer Trail,” he said. “They’ve done a lot of work in there.”

Echoing the concerns of other officials, he said a lot would depend on Wednesday’s wind.

“We’re still in that red flag warning … so the potential for growth is definitely there. It just depends how these winds actually develop,” he said.

14 Dems break ranks, sign onto GOP measure to increase defense spending by nearly $25B

0

Democrat-controlled House Armed Services Committee adopted
a Republican amendment.

The Democrat-controlled House Armed Services Committee adopted a Republican amendment to increase defense spending by nearly $25 billion.

“The bipartisan adoption of my amendment sends a clear signal: the President’s budget submission was wholly inadequate to keep pace with a rising China and a re-emerging Russia,” the author of the amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act, Republican Rep. Mike Rogers, said in a statement.

“I hope this bipartisan, and now bicameral, move is understood by the Biden-Harris administration. The defense of our nation will not be shortchanged by Congress. I thank my colleagues for adopting this amendment to support the men and women who serve in our armed forces.”

The amendment ensures defense spending growth of 3% above inflation, providing $778 billion in total defense spending in fiscal year 2022, a $37.5 billion increase from fiscal year 2021. In addition, the amendment reverses Biden defense spending cuts and fully authorizes combatant commander unfunded priorities.

Fourteen Democrats broke ranks and signed onto the Republican amendment.

“Without additional resources, we will lose another generation of shipbuilding in this country, and we will be less prepared to defend both the U.S. and our allies’ interests,” House Armed Services Committee vice chair Elaine Luria, a Democrat who voted in favor of the amendment, said earlier this week. “I intend to join Ranking Member Rogers and support the amendment adding $25 billion to our defense budget.”

The Rogers amendment also prevents the Navy from decommissioning three aging cruisers and provides billions in funding for more shipbuilding.

“We cannot afford to cut corners and play politics with our national security,” Rogers said about his amendment earlier this week.

“President Biden’s proposed defense budget for FY22 was wholly inadequate — leaving our men in women in uniform in a vulnerable position and projected weakness to our adversaries.”

Even Dem-Aligned Polls Showing Biden’s Popularity Plummeting

0

Two Democrat-aligned polls have new findings showing President Biden plummeting among voters.

Now even Democrats are turning away from Joe Biden.

The Navigator poll, which bills itself as “a credible, trusted message development resource for progressives,” wrote on Wednesday, “While Biden’s net approval rating has dropped 8 points overall since last month, this drop is most pronounced among Democrats (-13 change in net approval), independents (-14), Hispanic Americans (-19), and AAPI (-30).”

Between August 2 and August 30, Biden’s net approval numbers among Democrats dropped from 79 to 66. Among independents, they dropped from negative 11 to negative 25. Among Hispanics, they dropped from +25 to +6. Among Asians and American Pacific Islanders, they dropped from 51 to 21.

In the Civiqs poll, Biden’s disapproval numbers soared by August 31 to 50%, the highest of his presidency. Significantly, 58% of Independents disapproved of the way Joe Biden is handling his job as president.

Another interesting note: one of the two states with the highest disapproval numbers for Biden, at 74%, was West Virginia, the home of the key player in any attempt to stem the leftists in the Democratic Party, Senator Joe Manchin. This means that Manchin may have to tread lightly lest he incur the wrath of his constituents. The other state was Wyoming.

The Civiqs poll has conducted polls in collaboration with the Alliance for Youth Action, which boasts that it “grows progressive people power across America.”

Over the weekend, The Washington Post worriedly wrote:

Democrats are defending a narrow majority in the House and the Senate. The president’s party historically tends to struggle in its first midterms, spurring nervousness that escalated sharply this month.

A Democratic member of the House, speaking on the condition of anonymity out of fear of retribution, said many in the caucus believe the lower chamber of Congress is already lost in the midterms. Other Democrats said they are bracing for the prospect of Republicans making double-digit seat gains.

On August 30, for the first time during his tenure as president, Biden’s disapproval numbers overcame his approval numbers in the heralded FiveThirtyEight poll; Biden’s disapproval numbers came in at 47.5%; his approval numbers stood at 47.2%. He has been underwater the last three days.

The Daily Wire reported on August 18:

President Biden’s approval among Americans has plunged, as demonstrated by numerous separate polls. Politico reported on Wednesday, “SIREN: President JOE BIDEN’s average approval rating is below 50% for the first time this year. 538: 49.8% … RCP: 49.4%.”

The 538 poll found Biden with a 44% disapproval rating. The highest average approval rating the RDCP poll has ascertained for Biden during his presidency was at 55.8%; he has dropped over five points.

A new Reuters poll conducted on Monday found that Biden’s approval rating had dropped by seven percentage points to rest at 46%, leaving him at his lowest level of his presidency.

“A separate Ipsos snap poll, also conducted on Monday, found that fewer than half of Americans liked the way Biden has steered the U.S. military and diplomatic effort in Afghanistan this year. The president, who just last month praised Afghan forces for being ‘as well-equipped as any in the world,’ was rated worse than the other three presidents who presided over the United States’ longest war,” Reuters reported.

They noted that in the Ipsos poll, 44% of respondents said Biden has done a “good job” in Afghanistan. “In comparison, 51% praised the way former presidents Donald Trump and Barack Obama handled the war.”

The World’s Oldest Jewish Trust Just Committed $50 Billion to Israel

0

The Sassoon Family Continuation Trust will create three different funds to secure the economic growth of Israel and fight anti-semitism.

The Sassoon Family Continuation Trust, established in 1485 during the Spanish Inquisition, has recently announced that it will commit $50 billion across three funds to “fulfill a mandate to ensure the economic growth and market impact for Israel.”

$100 billion of financial assets are currently being relocated to the U.S from Switzerland, half of which will end up in Israel.

“There’s a vacuum here, and someone needs to fill it,” David Sassoon told CTech. As a direct descendant of Sassoon trust and its sole beneficiary, he is now the executive chairman of J. Sassoon Group, a Washington, DC-based private equity and investment banking firm and oversees its ventures across the world.

Ahead of making ‘Aliyah’ (moving to Israel) later this year, he shared the plans for the trust and its hopes for investment that can help support the longevity of the country.

Over the next 15 years, the Trust will invest $50 billion dollars into three funds.

The first, The Israel Hellenic Fund, will focus on the relationship between Israel and Greece, ensuring it goes beyond a military and security collaboration to an economic, tech, life science, and real estate partnership between the nations.

The second fund, called The Patriot Fund, will be joint between the U.S and Israel and concentrate on technology pertaining to the national security sector.

The final fund is called the Zion Fund and will focus on Israel’s startup scene, with an emphasis on renewable energy, telecommunication, transportation, and infrastructure.

The Sassoon family has seen its share of injustice which explains some of its concerns about the safety and security of Jews and Jewish-friendly nations. Extraordinarily, the family has records going back to the 1400s that can demonstrate the family’s journey following expulsions from Spain and Portugal and can point to milestones over 500 years.

And the family has seen overwhelming success against adversity through its work in trade and geopolitical partnerships. Following expulsions in Europe, the family settled in Greece and then moved to the U.S, where Sassoon was born.

“We’re a patriotic family, we owe a lot of the achievements that we were able to accomplish at least in the last 200 years or so to the U.S, as most Jews who are Jewish Americans have benefitted from that,” he told CTech. “And so, moving the financial assets to the U.S is also helping Israel. The U.S still remains, thank God, a free market to a large extent.”

Today, as threats of anti-Semitism and political extremism on both sides bubble to a boil, Sassoon is dedicated to helping fix the local security levels of both countries, but especially the U.S which he described as being in “peril.”

Sassoon isn’t shy about why he thinks this. He believes that the Far Left has “confiscated the truth and kidnapped the narrative”, particularly among university campuses that are currently experiencing a spike in anti-Israel sentiments. He also cited President Joe Biden’s recent handling of Afghanistan as an example of his administration’s “inefficiency and ineptness.”

To help achieve some of its ambitious economic, security, and cultural goals, the fund has employed Bruce Fein as its CEO. Fein was a former associate deputy attorney general in the U.S. He served in the White House during President Nixon and served as general counsel for the FCC through President Regan, as well as the advisor and senior investigator for the Senate during the Iran-Contra scandal.

One of its board members, Paul Becker, is a retired U.S navy admiral and former director of Intelligence at the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).

“We’re very conservative in our thinking; however, we’re not exclusive,” he said. “We are inclusive. We want to work with everyone to maintain the Jewish values that maintain their identity as Jews and the Jewish state.”

Between ensuring Israel’s longevity through technology and economic security, fighting against anti-Israel bias in U.S institutions, and tackling antisemitism around the world, the Trust will have its hands full. With the three funds launching by 2022, the money and investment pumping in hopes to counter some of the threats posing Jews today.

“We have to remember the phrase our grandparents use: Never Again,” Sassoon concluded. “It’s Never Again for antisemitism around the world, period.”

Biden Pressed Afghan President To Lie To The World And Change “Perception” On Taliban’s Progress

0

President Biden stressed the need for changing the “perception” of the Taliban’s progress in Afghanistan, “whether it is true or not,” during a phone call with former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani less than four weeks before Kabul collapsed, according to a new report.

According to a transcript of the July 23 presidential call reviewed by Reuters, Biden didn’t anticipate the Taliban’s rapid advance across Afghanistan, which ended when they stormed Kabul on Aug. 15 and Ghani fled the presidential palace. Instead, Biden focused much of the 14-minute call on the Afghan government’s “perception” problem, Reuters reported.

“I need not tell you the perception around the world and in parts of Afghanistan, I believe, is that things are not going well in terms of the fight against the Taliban,” Biden said. “And there is a need, whether it is true or not, there is a need to project a different picture.”

“Reuters reviewed a transcript of the presidential phone call and has listened to the audio to authenticate the conversation. The materials were provided on condition of anonymity by a source who was not authorized to distribute it,” the news agency said.

According to the report, Biden lauded Afghan armed forces and said, “You clearly have the best military”. “You have 300,000 well-armed forces versus 70-80,000 and they’re clearly capable of fighting well,” Biden told Ghani in the 14-minute phone call. “You have 300,000 well-armed forces versus 70-80,000 and they’re clearly capable of fighting well,” Biden said to Ghani.

“We are going to continue to fight hard, diplomatically, politically, economically, to make sure your government not only survives but is sustained and grows,” said Biden.

In First, Israeli Navy Trains with US 5th Fleet

0
By Aryeh Savir/TPS • 1 September, 2021

Jerusalem, 1 September, 2021 (TPS) — For the first time in history, the Israeli Navy held a joint exercise with the US Fifth Fleet on Tuesday, as tensions in the region run high.

The Fifth Fleet is responsible for naval forces in the Persian Gulf, Red Sea, Arabian Sea, and parts of the Indian Ocean.

During the two-day drill held in the Gulf of Aqaba, four ships from two navies practiced protection, rescue and other scenarios while working together, with an emphasis on joint learning and strengthening the connection between the fleets.

Guided-missile cruiser USS Monterey sailed alongside an Israeli Navy Sa’ar corvette and two patrol boats as a US Navy P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft flew overhead.

“The exercise symbolizes the ‘opening shot’ for the joint work of the Navy with the Fifth Fleet, as part of the IDF’s transition to CENTCOM,” the IDF stated.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) is responsible for the Middle East, including Iran. The IDF was transferred to CENTCOM from EUCOM in January after the signing of the Abraham Accords with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

“The cooperation between the fleets is intended to strengthen security, including maintaining maritime trade routes for the sake of regional stability,” the IDF stated.

The drill comes as tensions in the waters in the Middle East are high following repeated Iranian attacks on merchant targets in the area.

Head of the Israeli Navy Sea Shipyard, Brigadier General Daniel Hagari, stated that “the partnership with the Fifth Fleet is a strategic partnership for the security of the region and the security of Israel. This exercise is the beginning of a cooperation that will expand and increase the circles of defense and security in the maritime space to prevent terrorist acts.”

“Our navies are ushering in a new era of expanded cooperation and capacity building,” said Vice Adm. Brad Cooper, commander of Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT), US 5th Fleet and Combined Maritime Forces. “We are partnering in new ways, which is essential for preserving security in today’s dynamic maritime environment.”

“Combined patrols like these help maintain regional maritime security and stability,” said Capt. Robert Francis, commodore for NAVCENT’s Task Force 55 which controls US Navy surface assets in the Middle East. “The collaboration has been tremendous. We share a common understanding with our international counterparts that there is strength in unity.”
